About Us

Why Woodfoot?

Our name Woodfoot comes from Andrea's maiden name Holzfuss which when translated from the original German is wood (holz) foot (fuss).  The etymology is uncertain, but family tradition is that it comes from wooden shoemakers.  We choose to accept and embrace this as we continue the craftsperson tradition as we explore our artistic calling.

From our home workshops in Dundee Oregon, in the heart of Oregon's Wine Country we collaborate to create our unique handcrafted designs using as much repurposed materials as possible.  What started as weekend fun became Woodfoot Design when we realized that a boring retirement without creativity was not something we could accept.

Andrea

Andrea "retired" from working as a Pharmacy Technician in 2012 to become a caretaker for our son following a stroke, followed by helping raise our granddaughter, and caretaker for her aging mom.  Andrea is the creative engine of Woodfoot Design.  She develops new ideas and improvements to Ed's creations.  She is the artist to Ed's technician.

Ed

After 40 years working as an engineer Ed needed to explore something creative and started welding garden art from old gardening tools.  Stepping out of the math and science anything with sparks and fire is fun for him.  Ed is the builder of the team.  He loves to jump in with minimal or no plans and just see what happens.

recycled and repurposed materials

What we recycle and repurpose

All of our products, except bracelets, have some recycled or reused materials.  Some a lot, some very little.

The CAPture

The straps for the CAPture are from discarded tent and tarps we have or find at garage sales.

Christmas Ornaments

The silverware (really steel flatware) is either given to us or we find it at garage sales and thrift stores.

Yard Art

This is where it all started.  A crazy idea and an old shovel.  We use yard and gardening tools we get at garage sales and thrift stores.  Early on when someone wanted something we made they paid in used, never new or just bought, garden tools.
